  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup chopped dried fruit (e.g., raisins, apricots, or cranberries)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat until the mixture reaches 280°F (soft-crack stage).
  • In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  • Slowly pour the hot sugar mixture into the egg whites while beating constantly.
  • Add vanilla extract, nuts, and dried fruit. Mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased pan and let it cool completely.
  • Cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar.
