Topped with a simple vanilla glaze, they offer just the right amount of sweetness without being too overpowering. Ingredients
-
For the Donuts:
-
1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
-
⅓ cup (70 g) granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon baking powder
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter, melted
-
1 egg, at room temperature
-
⅓ cup + 1 ½ tablespoons (100 ml) skim milk, at room temperature
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Vanilla Glaze:
-
½ cup (80 g) powdered sugar, sifted
-
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1 small pinch of salt
-
1 or 2 tablespoons milk (adjust based on desired consistency)
-
Optional: food coloring and sprinkles for decoration
-
Instructions
-
For the Donuts:
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan or lightly spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter, egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
-
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix—it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
-
Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each well about ¾ full.
-
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the donuts comes out clean.
-
Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
For the Vanilla Glaze:
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the sifted powdered sugar, vanilla extract, pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of milk. Stir until smooth.
-
If the glaze is too thick, add an additional tablespoon of milk to reach your desired consistency. If it’s too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar to thicken.
-
Once the donuts have cooled, dip the tops into the glaze. Let the excess drip off and place the glazed donuts on a wire rack.
-
Optional: Add food coloring to the glaze for a pop of color, or top with sprinkles for a fun finishing touch.
-
Notes
-
If you don’t have a donut pan, you can use a muffin pan, but your donuts will turn out more like muffins.
-
To make the donuts even fluffier, you can substitute some of the all-purpose flour with cake flour.
-
The glaze can be customized with different flavors or colors for a fun twist.
