Description

These soft and chewy Valentine’s Day Frosted Sugar Cookies are the perfect treat for any celebration! With a buttery base and a creamy, colorful frosting topped with festive sprinkles, they’re as delightful to look at as they are to eat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cookie

  • ½ cup butter (salted or unsalted), softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 & ⅓ cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For the Frosting

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cream (heavy cream or milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pink gel food coloring
  • Valentine’s Day sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg white and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a spoon or your fingers.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • While the cookies are cooling, make the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add a few drops of pink gel food coloring and mix until the frosting reaches your desired color.
  • Once the cookies are fully cooled, spread a layer of frosting on each cookie.
  • Top with Valentine’s Day sprinkles for a festive touch.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use any color of gel food coloring to match different holidays or occasions.
  • If you prefer a thicker frosting, simply add more powdered sugar until you achieve your desired consistency.
  • These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days.
