The Best Salmon Patties Recipe

  • Author: Mary
  • Total Time: 20-22 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings (about 8 patties) 1x

Description

These delicious and crispy Salmon Patties are easy to make, packed with flavor, and perfect for a quick dinner or appetizer. Made with canned salmon, fresh herbs, and simple seasonings, they’re golden on the outside and tender on the inside, served with tartar sauce and a squeeze of fresh lime for the ultimate flavor boost.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 (5 oz.) cans boneless, skinless salmon
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • A few dashes of seasoned salt
  • ¼ tsp cilantro (optional)
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp parsley
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or olive oil)
  • 1 fresh lime (for serving)
  • Tartar sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, drain the canned salmon and remove any bones if present. Flake the salmon with a fork.
  • Add the milk, eggs, Panko bread crumbs, salt, pepper, seasoned salt, cilantro, onion powder, and parsley to the bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are combined into a firm mixture.
  • Form the mixture into patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter and ½ inch thick.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the patties to the pan, being careful not to overcrowd. Fry the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. You may need to fry in batches depending on the size of your skillet.
  • Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the patties and serve with tartar sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • If you want to make the patties ahead of time, you can refrigerate the uncooked patties for up to 30 minutes before frying to help them hold their shape better.
  • You can also bake the patties in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through for a healthier alternative to frying.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a dash of hot sauce or lemon zest to the mixture.
