Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box strawberry cake mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Spread sliced strawberries evenly on the bottom of the dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and melted butter to the cream cheese and mix until well combined.
  • Pour the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries.
  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the cream cheese layer.
  • Top with chopped pecans.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh strawberries with frozen strawberries, though fresh gives a better texture.
  • If you don’t have pecans, walnuts or almonds can also work well in this recipe.
