Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional, for added spice)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- For the Zesty Chili Lime Dip:
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon chili paste or chili sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped (but not puréed).
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped shrimp with breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, hot sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into small patties, about 1-2 inches in diameter.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of oil. Cook the shrimp cakes for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the shrimp cakes are cooking, prepare the zesty chili lime dip by mixing together mayonnaise, lime juice, chili paste, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt in a small bowl.
- Serve the shrimp cakes warm with the chili lime dip on the side. Enjoy!
Notes
- You can adjust the level of spice by adding more or less hot sauce to the shrimp mixture or dip.
- For a healthier version, try baking the shrimp cakes at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes instead of frying them.
- Serve with a side of fresh salad or slaw for a complete meal.
