Description

    For the Cinnamon Swirl:

    • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)

    • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour

    • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

    • ⅓ cup butter (melted)

    For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

    • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)

    • ½ cup butter (softened)

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • 2 cups powdered sugar

    For the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:

    • ⅓ cup sugar (granulated or sanding)

    • 2 teaspoons cinnamon


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  • Prepare the vanilla cake: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Beat together on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and well combined.

  • Make the cinnamon swirl: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture forms a thick paste.

  • Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly. Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon swirl mixture onto the batter, then use a knife or skewer to swirl it into the cake batter.

  • Bake the cake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.

  • Prepare the cream cheese glaze: In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.

  • Once the cake has cooled, spread the cream cheese glaze evenly over the top.

  • Make the cinnamon sugar mixture: In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the cream cheese glaze.

  • Slice and serve!

Notes

  • You can make the cake ahead of time and store it covered in the fridge. Add the glaze and cinnamon sugar mixture just before serving.

  • For extra flavor, you can sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on top of the cake before baking for a stronger cinnamon flavor.
