Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
- 1 lb mushrooms (sliced, can use cremini, button, or a mix)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons white wine (or broth)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (or soy sauce for a vegetarian option)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
Instructions
-
Cook Mushrooms:
Heat 2 tablespoons oil and 2 tablespoons unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the 1 lb sliced mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften, about 5 minutes. -
Add Aromatics:
Reduce heat to medium and stir in the 2 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, and 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2–3 minutes until fragrant. -
Deglaze:
Add 3 tablespoons white wine (or broth) and cook until the mushrooms are tender and the liquid has mostly evaporated, about 3–5 minutes. Stir in 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce and mix well. -
Finish:
Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon fresh parsley. Stir until the butter is melted and the mushrooms are glossy. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
-
Ingredient Notes:
- Use cremini, button, or a mix of mushrooms.
- Use both oil and butter for flavor and browning.
- Choose dry white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio) or substitute with broth.
- For a vegetarian version, swap Worcestershire sauce with soy sauce.
-
Recipe Tips:
- Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent steaming the mushrooms.
- Let the mushrooms sit undisturbed for better browning.
- Add salt early in the process to draw out moisture, and taste before adjusting seasoning.
- If using fresh herbs instead of dried, use double the amount.
-
Storage Tips:
- Refrigerate: Store in an airtight container within 2 hours for up to 1 day.
- Reheat: Heat in a skillet, adding butter or broth as needed, and bring to a temperature of at least 165°F before serving.
