- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Top with a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of meat sauce and cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of red wine to the meat sauce while simmering.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey or sausage for the ground beef.
- Make ahead: Lasagna can be assembled a day before and refrigerated. Bake the next day as directed.
