  • Author: Mary
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This easy and comforting Homemade Reuben Bake is a twist on the classic Reuben sandwich. Layers of savory ground beef, tangy sauerkraut, creamy Thousand Island dressing, Swiss cheese, and rye bread come together in a deliciously baked casserole. Perfect for a hearty, family-friendly meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 can (14 oz.) sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices rye bread, cubed

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it is no longer pink. Drain the excess fat.
  • In a 2-quart baking dish, layer the ingredients in the following order: sauerkraut, beef, Thousand Island dressing, shredded Swiss cheese, and cubed rye bread.
  • Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve hot and enjoy your Homemade Reuben Bake!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toast the rye bread cubes lightly before adding them to the dish.
  • You can substitute the ground beef with corned beef or pastrami for an even more authentic Reuben flavor.
  • If you prefer a milder flavor, try using a less tangy dressing or a different type of cheese.
