Grilled Fish with Tartar Sauce and Mango Salsa is a vibrant and flavorful dish that combines the smoky, charred goodness of grilled fish with the creamy tang of tartar sauce and the sweet, tropical kick of mango salsa. This perfect balance of flavors makes it an ideal summer dish, great for serving at a casual dinner or a special gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Grilled Fish:
    • 4 fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or mahi-mahi)
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (for garnish)
  • For the Tartar Sauce:
    • ½ cup mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
    • 2 tablespoons chopped pickles or capers
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon fresh dill (optional)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Mango Salsa:
    • 1 large ripe mango, peeled and diced
    • ½ red onion, finely chopped
    • 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (optional for heat)
    • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mango Salsa: In a medium bowl, combine the diced mango, red onion, jalapeño (if using), cilantro, and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside to let the flavors meld together.
  • Make the Tartar Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, pickles or capers, lemon juice, and dill (if using). Stir until well combined and season with salt and pepper. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Grill the Fish: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Brush both sides of the fish fillets with olive oil and season with paprika, garlic powder, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Place the fish on the grill and cook for 3-5 minutes per side, or until the fish is opaque and easily flakes with a fork. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets.
  • Assemble the Dish: Place the grilled fish fillets on serving plates. Top with a generous spoonful of mango salsa and a dollop of tartar sauce on the side. Garnish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
  • Serve: Serve the grilled fish with tartar sauce and mango salsa immediately, paired with your favorite sides like rice, roasted vegetables, or a simple green salad.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise in the tartar sauce.
  • If you don’t have a grill, you can also pan-sear the fish fillets in a non-stick skillet.
  • Feel free to customize the mango salsa by adding diced avocado or a touch of honey for extra sweetness.
