Description

These flavorful chicken gyros are made with marinated grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, and creamy tzatziki sauce, all wrapped in warm pita bread. A delicious and satisfying Mediterranean-inspired dish perfect for lunch or dinner!


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita bread rounds
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup diced cucumbers
  • 1/2 cup diced red onions
  • Tzatziki sauce for serving

Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Add chicken breasts to the bowl and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes per side or until cooked through.
  • Let chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing into thin strips.
  • Warm pita bread on the grill for 1-2 minutes per side.
  • Assemble gyros by placing chicken strips, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions on pita bread. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don’t have a grill, you can cook the chicken on a stovetop grill pan or in a skillet.
  • Add some feta cheese or olives for extra Mediterranean flavor.
  • You can also serve with a side of Greek salad for a more complete meal.
