Description

Crispy, golden, and packed with savory flavor, these homemade Egg Rolls are a perfect appetizer or snack. Filled with a delicious mix of ground pork, cabbage, carrots, and seasoned with soy sauce, sesame oil, and oyster sauce, these egg rolls are deep-fried to perfection and ready to be dipped in your favorite sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 package egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil recommended)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground pork over medium heat until fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces.
  • Add garlic and ginger to the skillet, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the shredded cabbage and carrots, cooking for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil to the mixture, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
  • Place a spoonful of the pork mixture onto the center of each egg roll wrapper. Fold the wrapper according to the package instructions, sealing the edges with a little water.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully place the egg rolls into the hot oil, frying in batches for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove egg rolls from the oil and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can double fry the egg rolls by frying once, letting them cool, and then frying them again for 1-2 minutes.
  • These egg rolls can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. Reheat them in a hot oven or fryer to retain their crispiness.
  • Serve with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
