Description

Crockpot Bourbon Chicken is a savory-sweet dish with tender chicken thighs simmered in a rich, flavorful sauce made with bourbon, brown sugar, and soy sauce. The slow-cooking process allows all the flavors to meld together perfectly, creating a delicious meal that’s easy to prepare and serve over rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Place chicken thighs in the crockpot.
  • In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, bourbon, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Pour the sauce over the chicken.
  • Cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water. Stir the mixture into the crockpot during the last 30 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce.
  • Serve over rice and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes for desired spiciness.
  • If you prefer a stronger bourbon flavor, you can increase the amount of bourbon slightly.
  • For extra flavor, serve this dish with steamed vegetables on the side.
