  • Author: Mary
  • Total Time: 50-55 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4-6

Description

These Crispy Sweet Honey Garlic Chicken Wings are a delightful balance of sweet, savory, and a little bit of spice. The sticky honey glaze, combined with soy sauce, garlic, and a touch of vinegar, creates a flavor explosion that pairs perfectly with the crispy wings. These wings are great for game day, parties, or just a tasty dinner.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Wings: Fresh or thawed frozen wings
  • Honey: 1/4 cup (or more for extra sweetness)
  • Soy Sauce: 2 tablespoons (preferably low-sodium)
  • Garlic: 4 cloves, freshly minced
  • Rice Vinegar (or Apple Cider Vinegar): 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger (optional): 1 teaspoon freshly minced
  • Black Pepper: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sesame Oil (optional): 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame Seeds (optional): For garnish
  • Green Onions (optional): Chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Wings:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture, ensuring they get crispy when baked.
  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, ginger (if using), and black pepper.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce begins to simmer and thicken (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Bake the Wings:

    • Place the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack.
    • Bake for 35-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden and crispy.
  • Glaze the Wings:

    • While the wings bake, heat sesame oil in a small pan over low heat. Once the wings are done, toss them in the prepared honey garlic sauce until evenly coated.
  • Serve:

    • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added crunch and color. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don’t have rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar works just as well, but rice vinegar is milder.
  • To make the wings extra crispy, you can toss them in a little bit of cornstarch before baking.
  • If you like more heat, add some red pepper flakes to the sauce.
