Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cookie Bars
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 5 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • For the Frosting
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 cups powdered sugar
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 56 tbsp heavy cream
    • Food coloring (optional)
    • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
  • Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookie bars to cool completely before frosting.
  • To make the frosting, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream until smooth and fluffy. Add food coloring if desired.
  • Spread the frosting over the cooled cookie bars and decorate with sprinkles.
  • Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For an extra festive touch, you can top the frosting with crushed candy canes or mini chocolate chips.
  • These bars are best stored in an airtight container to keep them soft.
  • If you don’t have heavy cream, you can substitute with milk, but the frosting may be a little thinner.
