- For the Cookie Bars
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- For the Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 5–6 tbsp heavy cream
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookie bars to cool completely before frosting.
- To make the frosting, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream until smooth and fluffy. Add food coloring if desired.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled cookie bars and decorate with sprinkles.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For an extra festive touch, you can top the frosting with crushed candy canes or mini chocolate chips.
- These bars are best stored in an airtight container to keep them soft.
- If you don’t have heavy cream, you can substitute with milk, but the frosting may be a little thinner.
