- 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined.
- Divide batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice until smooth.
- In another bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
- Place one of the chocolate cake layers on a serving platter and spread half of the cheesecake mixture on top. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining cheesecake mixture over it.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- For extra decoration, you can garnish with orange slices, chocolate shavings, or a dusting of cocoa powder.
- The cake layers can be baked a day ahead, allowing the cheesecake layer to chill overnight for even better flavor and texture.
- You can substitute the orange juice and zest with lemon for a different citrus twist.
