Description

Chocolate Mousse is rich, creamy, and indulgent, made with just a few simple ingredients. The semisweet chocolate and whipped cream come together to create a smooth and velvety dessert, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet)
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream (for melting chocolate chips)
  • ⅔ cup chilled heavy whipping cream (for whipping)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate chips with ½ cup heavy whipping cream. You can do this over a double boiler or in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and fully melted. Let the melted chocolate cool to room temperature.
  • In a separate chilled bowl, whip the remaining ⅔ cup heavy whipping cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract using a hand mixer or stand mixer. Whip until soft peaks form.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the cooled melted chocolate until fully combined and smooth. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
  • Spoon the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
  • Optionally, garnish with chocolate shavings, whipped cream, or fresh berries before serving.

Notes

  • For extra richness, use high-quality semisweet or dark chocolate.
  • If you prefer a sweeter mousse, you can increase the powdered sugar slightly.
  • You can make this mousse a day ahead and store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
