Description
Beef Pasta in Tomato Sauce is the perfect weeknight dinner. Ground beef is simmered in a rich tomato sauce flavored with garlic, onion, and Italian herbs, then served over your favorite pasta and topped with Parmesan cheese. Quick, satisfying, and full of flavor!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 oz pasta of your choice (spaghetti, penne, etc.)
- Grated Parmesan cheese for topping
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes until the onion is softened and translucent.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
- Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Serve the beef and tomato sauce over the cooked pasta. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and enjoy!
Notes
- For added richness, you can stir in a tablespoon of olive oil or a splash of cream at the end of cooking.
- If you like a bit of spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- For a more robust flavor, you can simmer the sauce longer—just add a little water if it gets too thick.
- You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter version.
