Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds thin-sliced chicken breasts
- Kosher salt, fresh black pepper, and garlic powder (for seasoning the chicken breasts)
- ½ cup flour
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups (or more as needed) Panko bread crumbs
- Vegetable or canola oil (for frying)
- 12 slices mozzarella cheese
- 12 slider rolls
- Bang Bang Sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour and cornstarch. In another shallow dish, whisk the buttermilk and hot sauce. In a third shallow dish, place the Panko bread crumbs.
- Dip each piece of seasoned chicken into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk mixture, and finally coat in the Panko bread crumbs. Repeat with all chicken breasts.
- Heat a large skillet or frying pan with vegetable or canola oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, fry the breaded chicken in batches, about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- After frying, transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each piece of hot chicken and let it melt slightly.
- While the cheese melts, slice the slider rolls and toast them lightly if desired.
- Assemble the sliders by placing a piece of cheesy chicken on the bottom half of each slider roll. Drizzle generously with Bang Bang sauce. Top with the other half of the roll and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can make your own Bang Bang sauce by combining mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, hot sauce, and a touch of honey.
- For a spicier kick, adjust the amount of hot sauce in both the buttermilk mixture and the Bang Bang sauce.
- These sliders can be made with chicken tenders instead of sliced chicken breasts for even more bite-sized pieces.
